The NLPI Main Library consists of five floors above ground and two below, covering an area of nearly 40,000 square meters. The interior features an "Outside-In" concept, where outdoor city views at different elevations are brought inside. These views serve as the inspiration for the unique color schemes and design themes found throughout each floor of the library.

流通服務區
想要享受圖書館完整服務,別忘了先帶身分證件到流通服務檯辦理借閱證,首次申辦借閱證免收工本費,亦可以您自備的電子票證申請新辦、更換或補發,憑此「一證通用」的借閱證,即可於本館與臺中市立圖書館各分館享有館藏借閱服務,還可以跨館「還書」喔!
Self-Checkout Area
All borrowable materials are equipped with RFID technology, allowing users to check out, return, and collect reserved items independently. You can use the self-checkout station to complete the borrowing process and the book sterilizer nearby for disinfection.
Smart Reservation Pick-up Area
After receiving an email or SMS notification from the library, you can enter the self-service pick-up area using your library card or mobile library app. You may then collect and check out your reserved items independently. The smart shelving system displays the real-time location of your reserved books, making the pick-up process quick and convenient.
Interactive Information Wall
The Interactive Information Wall provides digital displays and a variety of interactive experiences, including a real-time information wall, themed book displays, a pandemic prevention game, a facility guide, Southeast Asia–themed games, and a historical map tour of Taichung. Users can navigate between different applications to explore library information and enhance their understanding of public health and multicultural communities through interactive games
Information Kiosk
The library provides various information kiosks, offering services such as event information, voice-enabled services, and access to iLib Guider app features, allowing users to quickly find the information they need.

兒童學習中心沉浸宇宙互動體驗區,以沉浸式投影帶領親子進入知識宇宙,跟著小太空人完成任務,一起來一場火星探索之旅。
Story House
The Story House features immersive projection combined with motion-sensing interaction. During the experience, children are invited to take part in interactive segments by performing simple actions to complete tasks and progress through the story.
Children’s Learning Center
The Children’s Learning Center is themed around a “Knowledge Forest” and is designed for children aged 12 and under. The center features a Preschool Area, Story Room, Computer Search Area, and Reading Area, as well as an AR (Augmented Reality) Reading Zone that brings books to life beyond the page. A child-friendly book search and recommendation interface, integrated with mobile devices, offers a diverse and engaging reading experience.
Book Return Area
Our automated book return area features the largest sorting system among public libraries in Taiwan. Simply place your books into the return slot, and they will be automatically sorted. You may also return items via the 24-hour outdoor book drop located by the side entrance.
2F: Multimedia and Digital Experience
Features a multimedia and digital experience area offering audiovisual collections, interactive digital media, computer-based information search, and access to the library’s digital resources.
數位共創境 - PLUS Space
「數位共創境」為創新數位閱讀體驗之指標性展示場域,致力於翻轉傳統閱覽模式,透過導入生成式 AI 與互動體驗技術,以趣味、貼近生活的展示方式,引介國資圖豐富數位資源及電子書。提供讀者探索、運用、共創國資圖數位館藏。在這裡,閱讀不再只是單向的獲取資訊,更能透過科技激發靈感與想像,讓每位讀者都能在AI時代與數位閱讀之浪潮中,運用國資圖館藏持續為自己增能,達到終身學習之目標。
Digital Arts Center
The Digital Arts Center is a multimedia exhibition space that collaborates with partner organizations to present a wide range of themed displays. In partnership with design schools, it showcases outstanding student work and features the theme “The Spirit of Originality—Realizing the Dream of Creating Picture Books.” The center presents student creations, works reflecting local culture, and award-winning picture books, offering a diverse and engaging reading experience.
vInformation Retrieval Area
This area provides computers for internet access and information search. It includes a walk-in internet access zone and a Digital Resources Experience Area, both available without prior registration. For longer use, patrons may reserve a computer for up to two hours with a valid library card.
2F Information Desk
Provides borrowing and return services for audiovisual materials. Readers aged 12 and above may also borrow devices such as laptops, tablets, and e-readers. Assistance with the use of the library’s digital resources is available.
Multimedia Collection
Audiovisual materials are available for borrowing, including DVDs, VCDs, Blu-rays (BD), UHD Blu-rays, CDs, CD-Rs, videotapes, and audiotapes.
Mini Exhibition Area
The Mini Exhibition Area features diverse digital reading resources and highlights research achievements from six major research centers under the National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs), spanning Earth and environmental sciences, information and communication technology, and biomedical research. Under the theme “Scientists’ Secret Base @ Taichung”, the exhibit promotes public engagement with scientific discoveries and allows visitors to experience the fascination of science and technology.
Language Learning Area
The Language Learning Area offers a dual-screen, multitasking environment for accessing the library’s language learning databases. Users can take notes and look up vocabulary while studying, enhancing the learning experience. Use of this area requires a reservation with a valid library card.
Audio-Visual Appreciation Area
The library offers a variety of seating options, including individual, two-person, and group viewing, as well as public broadcast audio-visual channels. It also provides small rooms for photography and speaking practice. These facilities allow visitors to enjoy the library’s cloud-based audio-visual resources and public broadcast collections.
Information Center for the Hearing and Visually Impaired
The Information Center for the Hearing and Visually Impaired offers dual-format books, audiobooks, braille books, computers for visually impaired users, and assistive devices. It also features a multi-purpose workshop and an audiobook recording studio, providing an accessible environment tailored to the needs of hearing and visually impaired patrons.
Art Corridor
The Art Corridor, connected by books and bridged by aesthetics, hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year. Through immersive artistic experiences, it conveys the joy of reading and the endless possibilities of knowledge exploration.
3F: Multicultural, Senior, and Periodical Services
Explore information from diverse countries and browse over 800 periodicals and newspapers.
Senior Learning Resources Area
The Senior Learning Resources Area is designed for visitors aged 55 and above. It features a thematic self-learning section, large-print books, digital newspaper readers, and magnifiers for easier reading. A digital leisure platform is also available, offering games such as Chinese chess and other electronic competitions.
Government Publications Section
This section features award-winning works from past National Publishing Awards, books exhibited at international book fairs, and official publications from central and local governments. It serves as an important platform for both local residents and multicultural communities to explore and appreciate Taiwan’s culture.
Diverse Exhibition Area
The Diverse Exhibition Area hosts occasional thematic exhibitions. In the past, we have collaborated with institutions such as Academia Sinica’s Institute of Taiwan History, the Digital Culture Center, the National Museum of Science and Technology, the Agricultural and Food Agency’s Pesticide and Toxicology Testing Center, and the Water Resources Planning Institute under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. These collaborations have showcased a variety of engaging exhibitions. Currently, we work with technical colleges and universities in central Taiwan, providing students with a platform for exploration and discovery, and highlighting the library’s educational role as a museum-like space.
Periodicals and Newspapers Reading Area
The Periodicals and Newspapers Reading Area is one of the library’s most popular sections. It offers open-access reading of 26 current newspapers and over 600 current periodicals, as well as closed-stack access to 87 bound newspapers and 2,174 bound periodicals. In addition to Chinese resources, materials are also available in English, Japanese, and various Southeast Asian languages.
Global Picture Book Center
The Global Picture Book Center promotes reading for all ages, collecting and showcasing picture books from over 30 countries. It highlights the diversity and richness of picture book styles from around the world.
世界之窗
旨在透過閱讀介紹及推廣世界各國文化,並以結合書籍典藏以及多元展覽之方式,成為一個在圖書館中讓讀者能認識各國文化的窗口。區域內目前設有法國典藏區、德國典藏區以及捷克典藏區,分別與法國在台協會學術合作與文化處、歌德學院(台北)德國文化中心以及捷克中心臺北(Czech Centre Taipei)等三個官方單位合作設立。
美國資料中心
全臺灣第一個「美國資料中心(AC)」,能滿足您對美國豐富資訊、文化、以及語言學習、留學規劃等需求。空間設計以大峽谷地形為主軸,視野開闊,將書架與閱覽區巧妙融合。提供約3千冊童書、2千冊結合美國歷史、文化、藝術與文學之圖書可供外借。
比利時資料中心
國立公共資訊圖書館(以下簡稱國資圖)為發展多元文化服務,與比利時法語文化區國際關係總署(Wallonia-Brussels International,WBI)合作成立「比利時資料中心」 (Belgian Corner)於111年1 月19 日正式開幕啟用,共同促進雙方在文化及教育等方面交流,此為比利時台北辦事處與臺灣公共圖書館界之首創合作模式。
Audio-Visual Room

The Taiwan Resources Center houses an extensive collection of Taiwanese publications, local documents, and township and village records contributed by public libraries across the country. Immerse yourself in these resources to explore Taiwan’s cultural heritage and historical development.
原住民族資料區
本館於臺灣資料區內設「原住民族資料區」,主題包括原住民族社會生活與風俗、文化、歷史、服飾、人文、祭禮及照片集等類別圖書資料供讀者於館內閱覽,專區於書櫃上方加上具有原住民意象的美工裝飾,設置閱覽桌椅,並辦理原住民相關主題書展等,讓讀者有不同風格的閱讀感受。
Multicultural Learning Classroom
The Multicultural Learning Classroom accommodates 50 seats, expandable to 60, and is designed for courses and activities that promote multicultural exchange and language learning.
留學資料區
本館設「留學資料區」定期邀請各國官方駐台機構推廣留學專業顧問或推薦具留學經驗者,於寒、暑、假日舉辦留學及輔導相關活動,說明有關各種留學獎學金申請資訊、出國留學申請程序、文件準備、留學國家、系所介紹、留學考試準備及行前說明等資訊,並與學生分享國外之求學及各國文化、教育、旅遊及語文學習等生活經驗,並提供面對面諮詢的機會,使民眾可以汲取各國多元社會文化背景知識及留學資訊。
Map Area
The Map Area offers printed maps, topographic maps of Taiwan, and basic aerial photos for reference and browsing.
4F – 5F: Collection & Reading Floors
Books with circulation records from the past five years are primarily housed on the 4th and 5th floors. (Children’s books are located in the 1st Floor Children’s Learning Center.)
4th Floor: Natural sciences, social sciences, applied sciences, and language collections.
5th Floor: Arts and humanities, as well as foreign language collections including English, Japanese, Korean, and Southeast Asian languages. The floor also offers reading areas, the Xián Yún Starry Sky Reading Room, an Information Desk, and a Teen Zone.

賢雲星空書房
本館於112年度獲企業「三本久實業股份有限公司」捐贈款項,購置共計3,287冊之新書,特設立「賢雲星空書房」專區,典藏此批捐贈圖書。此次企業捐贈,不僅豐富圖書館的藏書,也為讀者帶來無限的知識與啟發。期望此嶄新書房裡每一本書都是知識的星星,在閱讀的星海中閃耀著前進的光芒,為每一位讀者帶來無限的可能與探索的樂趣。

青少年區
青少年區匯集漫畫、雜誌及輕小說等青少年讀物,並設有「好Young館」多功能智慧空間,除可進行桌遊、美術用具借用及程式邏輯機器人體驗,我們也提供拼圖、MAKER教具、學生練舞空間等服務,豐富多元的閱讀推廣活動與主題展覽,滿足青少年發揮創意與實作的需求。
Discussion Rooms
To support study and research needs, the Library provides discussion rooms for non-commercial use. Rooms are available in different sizes, each with an appropriate capacity limit. To reserve a discussion room, please visit the Library’s “Smart Space Service” system for booking guidelines and availability, and log in to make a reservation.
B1: Study Rooms, Outdoor Facilities, and Architectural Features
Study Room
The Study Room on the basement level of the main library offers 316 seats and features automated access control. Visitors can register for a seat using a library card from this library or the Taichung Public Library. Seat registration is available at the in-library Information Kiosk or online through the “Smart Space Services” up to 1–14 days in advance.
Refreshment Area
Food and drinks are allowed only in designated areas (B1, 2F–5F). Not permitted in other reading areas.
Closed-Stack Special Collections Area
Materials in this area are not available for loan. Readers may request access through the Library Catalog System.
Closed-Stack Collection
To create a more spacious and comfortable reading environment, some rarely used and borrowable books are stored in this area. You can request these items through the library catalog system for retrieval and borrowing.
建築外觀
國立公共資訊圖書館為全臺首座的數位圖書館,主建築外觀以中臺灣的地域性大甲溪與大肚溪兩條流域意象,以水的波紋轉化成建築皮層的波褶,漸層的曲線塑造出蜿蜒河流之意象,建築外牆以八種不同粒徑的馬賽克拼貼出如河川卵石的壘石紋理意象,彷彿知識之河在此流動匯聚。透過曲線流動之牆面及水平窗帶設計,形成建築多角度視野,成為數位時代建築美學的臺中新地標。

-讀樂‧無限‧大未來
圖書館中庭廣場,以「閱讀無限」的概念出發,楊尊智先生創作的「讀樂‧無限‧大未來」象徵無限與不斷流動的符號「∞」所形構的花崗地坪,延伸自地面的空間線條,鏡面金屬表面以扭轉光線的姿態,表現著一站、一坐,彷彿“正在閱讀中”的想像。
公共藝術-觸 Contact
設置於入口大廳挑空處的作品「觸 Contact」,藝術家許宗傑以「創世紀」為概念出發,由世界各國文字轉化為0與1數位語言,透過指尖的傳遞,展現數位圖書館由傳統知識模式過渡到未來數位知識學習的轉變。
公共藝術-璀璨之書
林家祺先生創作的作品《璀璨之書》,以街道傢俱的造型分佈於圖書館兩側人行步道上,如同圖書館對外的迎賓意象,連結館區與周邊社區、以至整個城市,將圖書館的形象展現在城市漫步的人群裡。

A pocket park is located in the corner area, featuring a wooden walkway and seating, providing visitors with a cozy spot to read and relax.
